Men’s Health Forum

Glen Waverly Police Academy, Melbourne, Victoria

At the invitation of Acting Superintendent Juliann Goldrick one of our chiropractors, Greg, spoke at a Men’s Health Forum held at the Police Academy. Greg spoke about how we should all develop a Health Plan to get the most out of life.

Merv Hughes of Test cricket fame spoke about the mental and emotional aspects of wellbeing and emphasized the need to ask your mates how they are going. Don’t let them or you suffer in silence.

Greg addressed the forum on the power of developing a Health Plan. Key topics included why we lack consistency and direction in our wellbeing plus strategies to develop achievable and meaningful goals. Strategies are listed to develop an efficient, low barrier and enjoyable method to take you towards meaningful goals as the years roll on. The takeaway being that small steps taken daily can achieve tremendous outcomes.

Step 1; Get clear about what you want.
The first principle of success is desire – knowing what you want. Spend time and work it out in precise detail. What are you after and why?

Step 2; Find out the Truth.
Get your team together. Your GP, chiro, physio, osteo, personal trainer,….whomever. Have them assess, measure and compare to some raw baselines. Variables to consider include blood pressure, heart rate, fasting glucose, grip strength,……the list is a long as you wish.

Step 3; Reverse engineer the most efficient solutions to flywheel your success. Make the solutions be a) effective b) low barriers and c) enjoyable.

A very basic plan might look like….

  1. Be clear what l want. Be able to walk 10km because l intend to retire in 5 years and want to travel the world.
  2. I am 10kg too heavy.
  3. The most efficient way to lose weight is to reduce calorie intake. I am going to stop drinking alcohol each day. Instead l will only have a drink on Saturday nights/

If you are interested in the development of a health plan Greg is more than happy to discuss it with you. Make a call for an appointment and start your Health Plan.
